Portland Timbers made it five straight wins at home after scoring a late goal to beat San Jose Earthquakes.

A review of Sunday's MLS action as Jack Jewsbury grabbed a late winner for the Portland Timbers.

Jewsbury scored in second-half stoppage time to give the Timbers a 1-0 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes.

With the clock ticking past 90 minutes, San Jose were unable to clear a free kick effectively and Jewsbury pounced, lobbing the ball over Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham and into the net for his second goal of the season.

Remarkably, both of his goals this season have been winning ones netted in stoppage time.

Despite dominating possession over large stretches of the game and having 23 shots at goal, it appeared Portland wouldn't be able to convert their dominance into goals, especially with Bingham is such fine form, making three brilliant point-blanks saves.

Even when Portland found a way past the inspired goalkeeper, there was a defender waiting to back up his goalkeeper as seen in the 24th minute when Alvas Powell made a brilliant goal-line clearance although replays did suggest he may have used his arm to make the goal saving block.

The victory extended Portland’s home-winning streak to five games and moved them back to joint third in the Western Conference standings.
