Former England captain stayed in America for family reasons

Paris St Germain sporting director Leonardo has revealed he has not given up hope of luring David Beckham to Ligue 1. The 36-year-old LA Galaxy midfielder was a target for the mega-rich French giants when his contract expired at the end of the last MLS campaign. PSG had been among the frontrunners to sign the former England captain, but he eventually rejected their overtures and signed a new deal with the Galaxy. Leonardo, though, continues to maintain hope that he can convince the icon to have a final swansong in Paris. "David Beckham coming to Paris is something that everyone dreamt about," he said in the Sun on Sunday. "Family considerations weighed in his decision. We tried everything we could. But the door is still open. "Even though he's never played for Paris St Germain, it feels like he's already contributed something here."
