Yeovil have signed defender Ryan Dickson from Crawley Town on a two-year deal.

The 28-year-old, who was born in Cornwall, enjoyed a five-game loan spell with the Glovers in 2012 when he played for Southampton and has also turned out for Plymouth, Brentford and Colchester.

Manager Paul Sturrock told Yeovil's official website: "I had Ryan playing for me at Plymouth Argyle, but I moved him on at that time because I felt I had more experienced players available.

"He has had a very good career to date, playing for clubs like Southampton and Brentford.

"He is only 28 years old and has a superb left foot and I feel he is a player that will excite the crowd here at Huish Park."

Dickson explained the move on Crawley's website, saying: "I'd just like to stress that I am leaving Crawley for family reasons so I can move back to the South West.

"I will always look back on my year with the club as one of the most enjoyable of my career and the main reason for that is that the Reds' fans were absolutely brilliant to me. I'd like to thank them for all the support they have given me.

"It was a very hard decision for me to make but I have to think of my family."
