Pep Guardiola's thorough 'pre-planning' makes Bayern Munich favourites for their Champions League semi-final first-leg clash with Barcelona, says Graham Hunter.

Former Barca boss Guardiola was knocked out at the semi-final stage with his new side last season against Real Madrid, having won the competition in 2009 and 2011 with the Catalan club.

He is hoping to go one better this time around, and Hunter says he will know the weaknesses of his former side in the run-up to the first leg at the Nou Camp on Wednesday.

He said on Revista De La Liga: "I think Pep knows the weaknesses of the Barca players, he left partly because he saw the decline.

"He always claims the thing he does best it to rip apart the opponents in the pre-planning, and instruct his players how to defeat them.

"If he is good to his word and does that over the two legs, that makes them favourites."

Fellow Revista pundit and former Newcastle midfielder Marcelino disagrees, and says the injuries to Arjen Robben, Frank Ribery and David Alaba make Barcelona favourites, adding that Guardiola and Luis Enrique could cancel each other out tactically.

He said: "I think Barcelona are coming into this stage of the season at their peak.

"With the three players [Suarez, Messi, Neymar] up front they are terrific. You know those three can score two or three a game.

"I think Barca have the advantage, those two [Guardiola and Enrique] know each other very well, they are friends and have been in the changing room together for years.

"They don't have anything to hide to each other, so I think it is down to the players, and at the moment Barcelona have the better players."

Terry Gibson predicts 2-0 to Barcelona if Bayern play with a back three, Marcelino also went for 2-0 alongside Scott Minto, while Hunter went for 2-1 for both legs, and a penalty shootout to decide it.
