Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman expects to sign an extended contract with the club by the weekend.
Freedman agreed in February when succeeding Stuart Pearce that his deal would be reviewed towards the end of the season, depending on results.
Of his 13 matches in charge, the 40-year-old has won seven, briefly reviving the Reds' Championship play-off hopes, and lost only three.
Freedman held talks with chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi last weekend and he says those discussions ended with the two men shaking hands over a new agreement, which he expects to sign very soon.
"Nothing has been concluded yet but we have spoken again and we are very close to agreeing the extension," Freedman told the Nottingham Post.
"It is just a case of getting it down in black and white, because there has been a handshake there. Nothing will stop us from moving forward.
"The chairman is a very honest man. He has told me what he wants me to do and I have told him if I can implement that, when it comes to his proposals.
"We will leave it with the lawyers and, by the weekend, hopefully something should be done."
