Paris Saint-Germain defender David Luiz has been ruled out for four weeks with a thigh injury, manager Laurent Blanc has confirmed.

The former Chelsea centre-back will miss a month of vital action for the French champions, including the French Cup final, league cup semi-final, and both legs of the Champions League quarter-final against Barcelona.

Thiago Motta will also miss the clash against Barca while Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marco Verratti are both suspended for the first-leg on April 15.

Asked if Motta had a chance to be back for the return leg on April 21, PSG head coach Laurent Blanc said: "Ten days, it will be complicated."

PSG are embroiled in a battle at the top of Ligue 1, and lead rivals Lyon by just one point.

Luiz picked up his thigh injury during PSG's important win over Marseille on Sunday, and was substituted after just 34 minutes.

He has been a mainstay in the French champions' team this season, making 39 appearances in all competitions.
