Leeds United's Sam Byram believes Elland Road future is bright

Sam Byram made his Leeds debut as a teenager, and he is convinced that the power of youth can help him fulfil his goals at Elland Road.

Now 21, Byram is one of four graduates from the Leeds academy who have become first-team regulars this season, and he says he owes a lot to current first team boss Neil Redfearn.

“It’s been a big achievement and a good journey so far, and hopefully it can continue,” he said.

Redfearn was head of the Leeds Academy until taking over as first team manager earlier in the season, and his willingness to blood youth has helped Leeds climb the table and raise expectations for the next campaign.

He said: “I know these boys inside out and I believe in them. They can play at the top level and this is an exciting time for the club. The most pleasing thing you can do  is when you develop players and turn them into top class players and we like that idea here”

Byram, along with Lewis Cook, Alex Mowett and Charlie Taylor have become regulars this season, and having grown up as a Leeds fan he admits he is living the dream.

“I have just have to keep my feet on the ground and not get carried away," Byram added.

“We have played with each other for the last three years and technically the likes of Lewis and Alex are very good.

“They work hard and we all just want to improve

“We all want to play at the top but we’re looking forward to starting a fresh next season and hopefully getting the club promoted."
