Chievo midfielder Federico Mattiello - on loan from Juventus - suffered a broken leg during Sunday's clash with Roma.

The horrific injury was the result of a challenge with Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan 16 minutes into a goalless draw at Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi.

Mattiello, 19, joined Turin giants Juventus as a 14-year-old back in 2009 and made his debut for the Bianconeri as a second-half substitute in a 7-0 home game win against Parma FC in November 2014.

With the likes of Andrea Pirlo, Paul Pogba and Claudio Marchisio ahead of him in the pecking order at Juventus Stadium, Mattiello was loaned out to Chievo in February and has since featured twice for the Verona club.

Chievo currently lie in 16th place in Serie A and will now face the remainder of the relegation battle without the promising youngster.
