Scotland’s long-serving women's national team manager Anna Signeul has signed a new two-year contract.

The Swede, who joined the Scottish FA in March 2005, extends her stay as Scotland boss until the end of the UEFA Women's Euro 2017 qualifying campaign.

Last year Signeul guided Scotland to 19th in the world rankings, their highest ever FIFA Women’s World Ranking position. She also led Scotland to their first ever Women's World Cup play-off where they were beaten over two legs by Netherlands.

The 53-year-old, whose remit includes developing women’s football in Scotland, also oversaw the opening of the Women's National Performance Centre at the University of Stirling in 2009.

"I think we are developing on all levels  all the time and I really like my job," Signeul told Sky Sports News HQ.

"When I look at the squad now - 10 years into the job - I feel really proud of what we have achieved in these 10 years."

Signeul’s side beat Northern Ireland 4-0 in Belfast earlier this month and will compete in the annual invitational Cyprus Cup which starts in a fortnight. Scotland’s opening game in Cyprus is against 2015 Women’s World Cup hosts Canada on March 4, followed by testing fixtures against Italy and South Korea.
