Scunthorpe end striker pursuit

Scunthorpe chairman Peter Swann has confirmed the club are no longer pursuing their interest in Dutch striker Kevin van Keen.

Van Veen, 23, who currently plays for Dutch second division side FC Oss, has been linked with Doncaster and Sheffield United, while Scunthorpe boss Mark Robins did take a look at him. Swann told the club's official website: "We will undoubtedly continue to be linked with various players and I am pleased that is the case, it means we are taken seriously in our quest to move up the table, improve our quality of football on the pitch and to entertain the fans. "I must however distance ourselves from the rumours re. Kevin van Veen, as this seems to be a ploy to raise his value. "Kevin is a quality player we looked at last year and Mark went to see him play after interest was raised a few months ago. "He is a good player but we did not and have not made an offer for him and have moved on to other targets, as you have seen."
