Cardiff have confirmed the signing of Lee Peltier from Huddersfield Town on a three-year deal, subject to international clearance.

The defender becomes Russell Slade’s third signing of the January transfer window after left-back Scott Malone arrived from Millwall and striker Alex Revell from Rotherham.

Former Terriers skipper Peltier, 28, had previous spells at Leeds United and Leicester City after beginning his professional career with home club Liverpool in 2004.

Peltier told Cardiff's official website: “The move came about quite quickly; my agent spoke to me early in the week and said Cardiff were interested and that made me want to talk to the club.

“I’ve worked under the gaffer before (at Yeovil) and he’s asked me to come into the group and give it my all. At this stage of my career I’m looking for success and I think I can find that here.

“I’m really good mates with Anthony Pilkington having played with him at Huddersfield. I also know Nicky Maynard, Craig Noone and Sean Morrison so there are a few familiar faces here.

“I like to think I’m an outgoing person and I say things as I see them, so I’m looking forward to coming in now and contributing. Hopefully I can help my team-mates as much as they can help me.”

Peltier had fallen out of favour under Huddersfield coach Chris Powell, who replaced Mark Robins mid-season, and he said: “Lee is an experienced footballer who wants to be playing every Saturday, but due to the form of the likes of Tommy Smith that is not something I’ve been able to offer him here.

"As a result, this move suits Lee and the club and he moves with our best wishes. His departure frees up more scope for us to refresh our squad during this window and we added David Edgar earlier this week in anticipation of this move.”
