Sheridan lauds Plymouth show

Plymouth boss John Sheridan praised his side for a convincing 3-0 home win over Dagenham, which hoisted the Pilgrims up to fifth.

Top scorer Reuben Reid took his tally to 13 goals, 11 in the League, following a superb 41st-minute opener, crafted by playmaker Bobby Reid and Lewis Alessandra, and a 78th-minute penalty following a foul on Alessandra. Bobby Reid made it 2-0 in the 50th minute following a one-two with his namesake before sweeping home from just inside the box. Sheridan said: "I thought we were top drawer today, some of our play was outstanding. "The goals were all quality goals and you can see the confidence in the team, especially at home. "The ball is travelling with a purpose and we are taking care of it and causing teams a lot of problems. "For the first goal the ball from Bobby is unbelievable, Lewi has done unbelievably with his left foot with a brilliant ball and Reuben's movement is really good. "Then you saw the awareness from Bobby and Reuben for the second goal. Strikers usually shoot, but Reuben has seen Bobby in a better position. "I thought we were really good today. I am pleased that some of the players that came in today performed really well. "Ollie Norburn was excellent, Aaron Bentley has come in and done well and I thought Lee Cox was outstanding. "If anyone was watching us, I think they would say we look a really good team, on today's performance." Dagenham boss and former Plymouth playmaker Wayne Burnett said: "I thought we started well. In the first half both teams played some nice football without creating too many chances. "But we got counter-attacked and the ball was in the back of the net. Both teams played some decent stuff and we looked comfortable against a very good Plymouth side, but goals change games. "In the second half we switched off for the second goal and the third goal wasn't a penalty although I thought the one after that, later on, was definitely a penalty. "Plymouth have got a good manager, some good players and they are playing some decent stuff. It is not an easy place to come because they have got good players. I have got some fond memories here but not today. "They have got the players to be up there, it will be key to keep their main players fit and if they continue their home form they have got as good a chance as anyone. "We have got some decent footballers, but once we go a goal down we are chasing the game. The second goal was disappointing for me because the longer we could have stayed in the game (at 1-0) the better."
