Port Vale have confirmed that former Manchester City striker Alex Nimely is training with the club.

Nimely, a free agent after being released by the Premier League champions in the summer, is set to play for the Valiants' reserve team against Wrexham on Wednesday. Vale manager Rob Page is thought to be keen to sign the 23-year-old. Should a deal materialise, Nimely is likely to be seen as a player who can challenge for the first-team squad in the short term rather than being a long-term development squad player. After joining Manchester City as a teenager, Nimely won England Under-20 honours and had loan spells at Middlesbrough, Coventry and Crystal Palace.
