Tisdale hails Hamon's response

Paul Tisdale was delighted with James Hamon's resolve after the Exeter goalkeeper made an error just minutes into his debut.

The 19-year-old shot-stopper should have done better with James Collins' opener for Shrewsbury on Saturday but bounced back to make a string of fine saves as the Grecians won 3-2. And Tisdale explained how Hamon's displays in training led to him being given the nod over regular number one Christy Pym . "I didn't know how he would react," he said. "How could I? He has not played a league game before and he's younger than Christy. "He has been the pick of the goalkepers in training in the last five or six weeks and at some point everyone has got to play their first game and that was his day. "He recovered from that really well and made a lot of really good decisions with the ball at his feet late in the game when a lot of keepers would have struggled mentally having had that start. "He is one for the future, we can't be a club that waxes lyrical about their will to play young players and then not play them. We put him in and he did really well."
