Bundesliga: Werder Bremen expect Robin Dutt to remain in charge for now

Werder Bremen coach Robin Dutt looks set to be given one last chance to save his job, despite Friday night's 1-0 defeat at home to Cologne.

That result left the Bremen bottom of the Bundesliga with just four points from nine games and not a single win yet this term.

Their only victory since August came in the first round of the DFB-Pokal, but Dutt looks likely to get the chance to add to that when Bremen travel to third division Chemnitz in the cup on Tuesday night.

"I'm not aware of anything other than that I will be on the bench on Tuesday," said Dutt. "Why should I presume anything else?"

Bremen's director of sport Thomas Eichin, who will help decide Dutt's future, did not want to make any rash predictions, although he suggested that Dutt would be given another chance to put things right.

"It's like it was before - we've got to keep our cool, sleep on it for a night and then analyse everything with the coach in the morning," Eichin told Sky television.

"I expect Robin Dutt to be sat on the bench against Chemnitz."
