Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti says his side’s 3-0 win at Anfield was their best performance so far this season.

Carlo Ancelotti thought Real Madrid’s display at Anfield was the best his side had played all year after a 3-0 win over Liverpool.

The holders had to withstand early pressure from the Reds before Cristiano Ronaldo notched with a great strike in the 23rd minute.

Karim Benezema then hit a quick-fire double to seal the three points for Ancelotti’s side, meaning they top UEFA Champions League Group B with a perfect nine points from their opening three games.

Asked if it was the best his side had played all season, Ancelotti told Sky Sports: “I think so, also because of the difficulty of the opposing team.

“They played very good all the first half, fantastic match, and second half we had a good control of the game and the result.

“I don’t have to say nothing to the players because they played really well, with confidence.

“But defensively I think that we did really well, the first 20 minutes when Liverpool started with intensity, we were in good control, we defended well.

“After that, after the 20 minutes, we started to play good football.”
