Ronny Deila claims Lukasz Zaluska has done nothing wrong after the goalkeeper was attacked

Celtic goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska will not face any disciplinary action from his manager following his assault in the early hours of Monday morning.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila recently called for his players to be "24-hour athletes" but has cleared his player of any blame after he was attacked and left with two black eyes.

The 32-year-old returned to training on Tuesday and is fit for Celtic's Europa League clash with Romanian side Astra on Thursday night.

"I have talked with Lukasz and I'm sorry for him because it could be quite scary. But in my opinion he has done nothing wrong,” Deila said.

"This is a police matter now and we just have to see what's happening.

"But he is fine now and he is ready for the game, that's the most important thing. He has trained the last two days so that's very good. He was in the hospital and everything was fine."

Media reports in Scotland claim at least one other Scottish Premiership player was involved in the attack, which happened while the goalkeeper was with his partner in Ashton Lane.

Police are investigating the incident but have refused to comment and Deila also declined the opportunity to be pressed on the matter.

He added: "I don' t know what's behind it and I don't want to have any opinion about it either before I know what's happened. Now the police are on the scene and we will take it from there."
