Norwich’s Cameron Jerome claims he was racially abused during draw with Leeds

Norwich’s Cameron Jerome has alleged he was racially abused by Giuseppe Bellusci during the 1-1 draw with Leeds at Carrow Road.

The striker complained to referee Mark Clattenburg about abuse from the defender in the first-half of the Championship fixture.

Clattenburg stopped the game to speak to coaching teams in the technical areas, but did not take any disciplinary action and eventually allowed play to resume.

After the game, the official gathered statements from both sets of players about the incident before he filed his match report.

Norwich manager Neil Adams told Sky Sports News HQ: “Cameron has complained of a racist remark, so that’s why the referee came over and made myself and (Leeds boss) Darko (Milanic) aware of what had happened.

“He spoke to the players and representatives at half-time and he’ll submit a report. That’s where we are with the situation."

Asked if Jerome is making a statement, he said: “I think all parties will. They’ll ask for that and obviously that will be dealt with at the appropriate time.

“The referee has taken statements now and he’ll make the report. Of course if it does go any further than that, then it’s not the right time now to speak about it.”

Milanic insisted afterwards that he knew little about the incident, but expects his team to also offer a statement.

“It’s difficult for me to comment because I didn’t hear nothing,” he said. “The referee was also away from this moment.

“I didn’t speak with him after the match. I’m used to not staying in the dressing room after the game.

“I’m sure that somebody will make a statement, yes.”
