Former Rangers director Dave King has held positive further talks about increasing his stake in the Glasgow club.
The South Africa-based businessman started negotiations this week about a possible deal to inject £16m into Rangers, with the hope of securing a 51 per cent stake through a new share issue.
Sky sources understand that Wednesday’s talks went well - and while no deal is yet in place, Thursday could be a key day.
King has been engaged in a long-running battle for control with the ruling regime at Ibrox and has recently found himself faced with a fresh rival in the shape of Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley, who has increased his stake in Rangers to nine per cent.
But last week it was revealed King had teamed up with another ex-director Paul Murray and wealthy supporter George Letham to launch this new investment plan.
Asked on Tuesday if he was optimistic his bid would be accepted, he told Sky Sports News HQ: "Yes we are."
