Premier League: QPR chairman Tony Fernandes calls for reaction after defeat at West Ham

Chairman Tony Fernandes has vented his frustrations after QPR slumped to a 2-0 defeat at West Ham.

The R’s are languishing at the bottom of the Premier League after an early Nedum Onuoha own goal and Diafra Sakho’s second-half strike sealed a comfortable win for the hosts on Sunday.

Manager Harry Redknapp refused to criticise his players, despite just one win in six league games, but Fernandes gave a negative assessment of this latest setback on Twitter.

Harry Redknapp said his side made things difficult by conceding early on and lacked the energy required to compete.

Just not good enough,” he wrote. “Stand tall and be brave. We got good players. It's time they get fit and get ready for battle.”

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville described the visitors' attitude as "diabolical,” but Redknapp insisted his players had not let him down.

"I don't think so. We're short - we're short of goals, we're short up front," he said.

"It's been difficult, we lost Loic Remy on the deadline and couldn't get a replacement. We've had a tough start, but there's an awful long way to go.

"We're not going to give up are we? It's early days. We have to find a way of playing that suits everybody and get the best out of what we've got."

The R’s were forced to withdraw Sandro, who has struggled with fitness problems since joining from Tottenham in the summer, and Redknapp appeared to agree with Fernandes’ calls for key players to make themselves available.

"We need to get them fitter. I've put a lot of faith into Sandro. Unfortunately he's had an injury and we need to get him fit,” he said.

"When he's fit he's a fantastic player - I had him at Tottenham, he's an excellent player - but at the moment he's short of fitness.

"The doctor came to me at half-time and told me he can only play another 15 minutes - I need players who can play 90 minutes.

"They've had injuries and missed training - we need to get everyone fit and ready to go."
