Italian midfielder Davide Petrucci has joined Romanian club CFR Cluj after being released from his Manchester United contract by mutual consent.
The 22-year-old moved to the Premier League from hometown club Roma in 2008 but was unable to break into the first team at Old Trafford and spent time out on loan at Peterborough, Royal Antwerp and Charlton.
He scored once in nine appearances in English football, a spectacular long-range strike for Peterborough against Leicester in the Championship in February 2013.
Petrucci was close to compatriot Federico Macheda during his time in Manchester but the striker left in the summer on a free transfer to join Cardiff City in the second tier.
A United statement read: "Everyone at Manchester United would like to wish Davide well at his new club."
