Amauri is excited to start his "new adventure" after completing his transfer to Torino from Parma.
The 34-year-old striker signed on Monday a two-year contract with the Granata outfit, a move that sees him return to Turin just three years after leaving Juventus.
"I wanted to experience a new adventure and to return to have a starring role," Amauri said to Italian newspaper Tuttosport. "Toro were the first team that wanted me and I can't wait to get started."
The once-capped Italy international, who scored eight goals in 33 league appearances to help Parma finish sixth in Serie A last term, is happy to fill the boots of forward Alessio Cerci.
Cerci, who netted 21 times in 72 league appearances for Torino since 2012, was sold to Spanish champions Atletico Madrid earlier this week.
"I arrive here with great enthusiasm," Amauri said. "I've always liked challenges.
"I will try to help Torino continue to grow."
Amauri is hoping to earn the trust of the Granata fans and does not believe his past at city rivals Juventus will go against him.
"That was the past and I live in the present," Amauri said. "I am now at Toro and I'm only thinking of this club.
"It would be fantastic to score a goal against Juve, beautiful for the fans and for me."
At Torino, Amauri will have the opportunity to play in European competition once again.
The Granata, who returned to Europe after a 20-year wait, were paired in alongside FC Copenhagen, Club Brugge and HJK in the Europa League group stages.
