Former Sheffield United defender Matt Hill has penned a permanent one-year deal with Tranmere Rovers.

The 33-year-old had been with the Sky Bet League Two club on non-contract terms, impressing manager Rob Edwards during the five appearances he has so far made. "Matt has done really well since he's been here," Edwards said in quotes published on Tranmere's official website. "He's fitted in really well with the rest of the squad and shown a fantastic attitude. "He came here and helped us out when we were short of numbers and he fully deserves this contract. "He's a strong defender who gets forward well - as we saw on Saturday with his two assists." Hill was a free agent this summer following his release from Sheffield United and includes Bristol City, Blackpool and Barnsley among his former clubs.
