Cooper rues missed chances

Swindon manager Mark Cooper was left to rue missed chances as his charges fought back to earn a 1-1 draw against Coventry.

After a quiet start, Swindon should have taken the lead when Massimo Luongo was threaded in one-on-one against Coventry goalkeeper Ryan Allsop, who denied saved with his foot. But Coventry took the lead with their first shot of the game when Josh McQuoid bustled past goalkeeper Wes Foderingham and tapped in. Swindon equalised in the 72nd minute through Raphael Rossi-Branco but both sides had to settle for a point. "I felt we could have easily won the game," Cooper said. "We did not pick the right ball at the right time. "We take the point, we keep the tally ticking on and we move forward. The game on Tuesday against Brighton (a 4-2 Capital One Cup defeat after extra time) really took it out of us." Despite conceding shortly before half time, Cooper told his side to continue how they were playing. "I said 'keep playing your football and it will come' and thankfully it did," Cooper explained. "I thought Wes (Foderingham) had saved the goal but the ball squirmed out for a tap-in. "I think it was an outstanding spectacle for League One football. It confirmed what I believe, which is this is a really good league right now." Cooper singled out defender Jordan Turnbull, on loan from Southampton, for credit after an assured performance. "Jordan is a very accomplished centre-back," Cooper said. "I think he balances the left side of the defence and I think he was really impressive." The draw leaves Coventry with six points from five games, but boss Steven Pressley is not panicked by a slow start. "I believe we can have a good season," he said. "The attitude of the group just now is absolutely first-class. I've got a really good felling about this group." Pressley was also encouraged by Bournemouth loanee's McQuoid's opener. "It was a good first touch but a poor second touch from Josh, but he followed it in and credit to him," he said. "Like any striker, you want to score goals and he has got two already."
