Brazil forward Hulk is nursing a slight knock but hopes to have shaken it off in time to face Mexico on Tuesday.
The burly frontman complained of suffering discomfort in his thigh during training on Sunday, casting doubt over his involvement in Brazil’s next World Cup outing.
Hulk is, however, reluctant to surrender his starting berth for the hosts and will do all he can to put himself in contention.
The Zenit St Petersburg striker was handed 68 minutes by coach Luiz Felipe Scolari in the opening night's 3-1 victory over Croatia before being replaced by Bernard.
He says he will understand if fitness concerns lead to him being overlooked in midweek, but has made it clear that he is prepared to play through the pain for the good of the collective cause.
Hulk told a press conference on Sunday: “I can play, we have to face everything in a World Cup and I hope this is no big deal.
“I shot twice and felt discomfort. I left (training) as a precaution and I hope there will be no problem.
“Scolari will decide, but I want to play in all the games.
“I’ll have treatment and try to be fit for Tuesday so that I can help the national team.
“I’ll talk with Scolari and see what’s best for the national team. I am a player that always tries to help out as much as possible.
“Of course this worries me but I am in the hands of great professionals.”
