Serie A: Lazio's Hernanes explains reasons for crying

Hernanes: Looks likely to be leaving Lazio

Brazilian midfielder Hernanes has insisted it was his decision to ask for a transfer from Lazio.

The 28-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to fellow Serie A side Inter Milan and took to Facebook to explain the reasoning behind crying whilst leaving training.

He said: "I would like to explain my tears because I've seen they have been misunderstood, I cried not because the club president was stopping me leaving.

"I cried because the negotiation between the two clubs is happening.

"I had the possibility to leave Rome, the place I love, the supporters I love. But it has to be me who told the president I would like to leave because I think it's best for me on a professional level.

I want to thank the president (Claudio Lotito) for his attempts in trying to convince me to stay until the last minute.

"This is my decision."

Hernanes joined Lazio in the summer of 2010 from Sao Paulo and is under contract with the Biancoceleste until June 2015.

The South American has scored three goals in 17 league appearances for the capital club this season.
