Everton have recalled left-back Luke Garbutt from his loan spell at Colchester after Bryan Oviedo suffered a broken leg.

The 20-year-old had made a big impression at the Weston Homes Community Stadium since joining the club last September, scoring three goals in 20 appearances. Garbutt will return to the Toffees as understudy to Leighton Baines after Oviedo suffered a broken leg in Saturday's FA Cup victory at Stevenage. Garbutt, who has made just one first-team appearance for Everton, could go straight into Roberto Martinez's squad for Tuesday's Merseyside derby against Liverpool at Anfield. "We are delighted for Luke that Everton feel that he is ready to step into their first-team squad," U's boss Joe Dunne told the club's official website. "I believe he has progressed and developed as a player in his time at Colchester United and I'm sure everyone at the club, including the fans, would like to wish him well."
