Bartosz Bialkowski - Notts County
Shaun Derry's side went into Tuesday's game against Bradford still looking for his first points as a Notts County manager. League One's bottom side somehow managed to survive a Bradford onslaught to gain a valuable point, thanks to some brilliant saves from Polish keeper Bialkowski.
After three successive defeats for the Magpies, a Bradford victory looked inevitable. However, the ex-Southampton stopper palmed away several efforts including saves from Nakhi Wells and James Hanson.
If not for Bialkowski, Derry's quest for his first point would still be ongoing.
Sam Ricketts - Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolves have picked up four points in this week's fixtures, keeping two clean sheets in the process. A key player for Wolves' good start to the season has been captain Sam Ricketts, who joined in the summer as a free agent following his departure from Bolton Wanderers.
Ricketts' composure and experience has helped lead Wolves to the summit of League One whilst contributing to a defence that has conceded just ten goals so far, the best in the league.
The ex-Hull City defender was unfortunate to not score against Tranmere on Tuesday after running the length of the pitch to fire just over. Manager Kenny Jackett substituted Ricketts late on and the full-back received a deservedly warm reception.
Marius Zaliukas - Leeds United
The former Hearts defender was signed by manager Brian McDermott initially as a backup player for Leeds and after Scott Wootton's injury, the Lithuanian was drafted into the starting XI for Saturday's game against Middlesbrough.
Expectations weren't high for Zaliukas, but the defender received the man-of-the-match award after an assured performance.
Not only was he calm in the tackle, but he marshalled the back four superbly and made some outstanding last ditch tackles. On the evidence of Saturday's game, United have found an absolute bargain.
Matthias Kouo-Doumbe - Northampton Town
The Football League's basement side Northampton Town earned a clean sheet against joint-top Chesterfield, thanks to a superb defensive performance.
After losing eight times away from home this year a victory for Chesterfield looked likely, however the ex-Plymouth Argyle man and his centre-back partner Paul Reid limited the Spireites to few chances.
Kouo-Doumbe rarely put a foot wrong in the game and deservedly left the Proact Stadium with the Football League's most unlikely clean sheet of the week after the game finished goalless.
Andy Dawson - Scunthorpe
Sixth place Scunthorpe stormed to a 4-0 victory over promotion-contenders Rochdale on Tuesday, three days after an impressive 2-1 win at Fratton Park over Portsmouth.
The results have been helped by two valiant performances from skipper Dawson, helping to keep a clean sheet on Tuesday despite Rochdale being one of the top scorers in League Two.
However, it wasn't just his defensive displays that warranted praise as his set-pieces posed a constant threat. After an assist on Saturday, Dawson's clean sheet wrapped up a great week for the former Hull City man.
Moses Odubajo - Leyton Orient
Reported Tottenham target Odubajo enhanced his sparkling reputation after bagging a brace during Leyton Orient's 3-1 win at Swindon on Saturday.
The 20-year-old put in a man-of-the-match performance which started after he guided in a Dean Cox cross on 40 minutes. Shortly after half-time, his heavily-deflected shot flew past Swindon's Wes Foderingham.
Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Bristol City saw Orient drop back to second place in League One, with Odubajo managing to get an assist for Cox's goal on the 69th minute. Manager Russell Slade and Chairman Barry Hearn face a fight in January to keep their prized asset.
Adam Clayton - Huddersfield
Clayton returned to the Huddersfield side for Saturday's 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday, following a four-game absence after a training ground bust up with striker Martin Paterson.
The ex-Leeds midfielder proved his worth when he played a superb reverse pass into the feet of Paterson, whose first goal in a Terriers shirt put Mark Robins' side 1-0 up.
After 68 minutes, Clayton claimed a goal for himself after stroking the ball home from 18 yards following a rebounded Oliver Norwood effort.
After a tricky spell for the 24-year-old, he proved his doubters wrong with a goal, an assist and an all-round superb midfield performance.
Antoni Sarcevic - Fleetwood Town
The most entertaining game of the week came at the Highbury Stadium, where Fleetwood beat Mansfield 5-4 in a thoroughly entertaining encounter.
Midfielder Sarcevic was the star of the show after scoring the winner in the 96th minute, a goal that sealed his hat-trick.
Sarcevic's stoppage-time penalty came after converting a first-half spot-kick, which was awarded after the England C international was upended by Mansfield's Martin Riley.
The midfielder's second of the game put the Cod Army 3-2 up, after deflected shot beat goalkeeper Alan Marriott.
Despite a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Accrington on Tuesday, Sarcevic's performance will remain long in the memory for the Fleetwood faithful.
Jamie Ward - Derby County
The Northern Ireland international put in two sterling performances in three days to help continue manager Steve McClaren's impressive start.
Ward provided two assists during Saturday's 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Pride Park, and was a constant thorn in the side of the Owls.
He was unfortunate to not get a goal, after seeing his late effort pushed away by Wednesday keeper Chris Kirkland.
However, on Tuesday night, Ward wrapped up a fantastic week for Derby by scoring the only goal in the win at Bournemouth. Just after the hour mark, left-back Craig Forsyth delivered a pin-point ball for Ward, who scored his fifth goal of the campaign to send the travelling Rams supporters into delirium.
After back-to-back wins, County trail the playoff places by a single point.
Joe Garner - Preston North End
Garner will find himself lucky to be in the team of the week, after the Preston forward was involved in an alterication with Port Vale defender Anthony Griffin during Tuesday's 2-0 victory for Simon Grayson's side.
Referee Andrew Madley then sent off team-mate Neil Kilkenny, in a case of mistaken identity.
Despite the controversy, Garner continued to play and punished the Valiants on the 30 minute mark, after his outstanding 20-yard strike left goalkeeper Chris Neal with no chance.
Garner's 71st minute penalty then doubled North End's lead to seal victory, propelling Preston up to third in the table. The in-form striker also netted during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Colchester, meaning he has now scored seven in his last five games.
David Nugent - Leicester City
The Leicester striker continued his sensational record against Ipswich after his two goals helped the Foxes to a 2-1 victory over the Tractor Boys.
After the ex-Portsmouth striker's brace, Nugent now takes his tally to 13 goals in 12 games against the Suffolk side.
Despite Ipswich's early goal through David McGoldrick, the striker always looked likely to score and duly obliged on 51 minutes, scoring the equaliser after a well-worked move involving Lloyd Dyer and Jamie Vardy.
Nugent completed the comeback just six minutes later, tapping in his second goal after Dyer had rounded Ipswich keeper Dean Gerken.
Leicester are now joint-top with Burnley and QPR, and manager Nigel Pearson will be hoping his star striker can build on an impressive return of nine league goals.
