Didier Deschamps insists he never doubted France could overcome Ukraine to reach the World Cup after their stunning fightback in Paris.
France overturned their 2-0 first-leg defeat to Ukraine to power to a 3-0 win over 10-man Ukraine at the Stade de France to book their place at next summer's World Cup finals.
Deschamps, who had come in for fierce criticism following the defeat in Ukraine, was full of praise for his players and believes they can shine in Brazil next summer now they have reached the finals.
"Four days ago, we were in a bad position but the players were fantastic tonight," Deschamps told French television.
"I didn't have doubts but we played a huge match and this qualification is very important for French football.
"It's a bit of a tradition that when French teams have their backs against the wall, they perform and we had a lot of heart and determination today.
"Now we've qualified, we're capable of some great things."
