Sam Walker - Colchester
Colchester recorded a precious 2-1 win over Leyton Orient to edge closer to League One safety. But they had goalkeeper Sam Walker to thank after he saved former Colchester player Kevin Lisbie's second half penalty. The save came at a time when the U's were heavily under pressure and the result provides them with a genuine chance of survival as they now sit six points above the drop zone. It promises to be a nervous end to the season for Us supporters but they will be hoping that Walker's save, 12 minutes from the end, might just be the moment that rubber stamps their safety.
Jordan Mustoe - Carlisle
The on-loan Wigan defender was the difference for Carlisle against Oldham scoring the all important second goal in a 2-1 away win. Mustoe superbly lobbed goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis from the edge of the box to give the away side some breathing space. United saved one of their best all-round performances of the season until it was really needed as they complemented a devastating first-half display of exciting football with a workmanlike showing after the break. For Mustoe it provides a timely reminder to Wigan manager Roberto Martinez before the season draws to a close. The result means that Carlisle climb toward-mid table safety.
Rob Jones - Doncaster
A Rob Jones goal for Doncaster secured them a 1-0 win over Tranmere. The Doncaster captain notched his eighth goal of the season getting on the end of Jamie McCombe's header. Tranmere had most of the play after that but Jones' presence was just as important at the other end of the pitch as well as the game entered the final stages. Brian Flynn's side were given the favourites tag on Grand National day before the game and rather than weighing them down it would appear that it got the best out of his team. With so much at stake, Doncaster looked anything but a side feeling the pressure as they produced another calm and composed display - led by Jones.
Ben Purkiss - Walsall
Walsall stretched their unbeaten run to 13 games with a 1-1 draw at home to promotion chasing Sheffield United. Their impressive recent run means that Walsall are now just two points outside the play-off places. Purkiss was excellent at the back for Walsall and also played his part in setting up their only goal. A draw against United on the club's 125th anniversary of its formation alongside Purkiss' fine performance has caused many Walsall fan to think that they might just make promotion this season.
Ricardo Rocha - Portsmouth
Portsmouth's unbeaten run now stands at five matches thanks to a goalless draw at home to Stevenage. The overall picture still looks pretty bleak for Guy Whittingham's side but Rocha's performance will provide him with the belief that they can continue to keep more clean sheets between now and the end of the season. The former Benfica man will have to call on all his experience if Portsmouth are to have any chance of surviving.
Matt Ritchie - Bournemouth
Matt Ritchie's double helped Bournemouth to their sixth win on the trot with a 3-1 victory over Notts County. Ritchie equalised from the edge of the area before tucking his second away nicely with five minutes remaining. It was a fitting reward for the former Swindon Town man who battled hard all afternoon. The League One player of the year had other chances to score his hat-trick but Notts County somehow managed to keep him out. The question for Bournemouth fans is can they keep their main midfielder?
Carl Baker - Coventry City
The financially troubled Sky Blues took the lead against Brentford after Carl Baker slotted home from the penalty spot. It's been a challenging season for Coventry but Baker tried to keep the supporters' spirits high with an all-action performance from midfield. Standing 14 points adrift of a play-off place, Coventry will be looking for Baker to lead them next season as they look to move out of the division. The concern for Coventry supporters is that if the financial problems get worse and will star men like Baker still be at the club?
Jack King - Preston
Jack King scored his first goal this year to pile more pressure on relegation threatened Scunthorpe United. King not only nodded in Jeffrey Monakana's cross but was denied by the woodwork late on in the game. King was instrumental throughout and improving North End will want his form to continue for the remainder of the season. The 27-year-old midfielder will hope that his most recent performance will help him score more goals and with it secure Preston more points.
Liam Noble - Carlisle
Carlisle all but secured League One football for another year thanks to a 2-1 victory at Oldham. Midfielder Noble more than played his part scoring the game's opener from 20 yards after nine minutes. The Cumbrians had a nervy finish to the game but Noble's composure along with his goal was enough to see his side over the line. Although their supporters won't be celebrating just yet, it would take a miracle for them not to be watching League One football next season.
Brett Pitman - Bournemouth
Bournemouth are second in the table just two points behind Doncaster partly due to Pitman's excellent recent form. Pitman struck for the sixth successive time against Notts County and Bournemouth supporters will know that if his run continues they will be almost guaranteed automatic promotion. It was Pitman's 16th goal since returning to the club from Bristol City and he appears to be excelling in the slightly deeper role Eddie Howe has asked him to operate in.
Andy Monkhouse - Hartlepool
A double from Andy Monkhouse kept Hartlepool's faint hopes of surviving relegation alive as they leapt above Bury at the foot of the division. Monkhouse's first, a header from a corner, was followed up by another header with just under 20 minutes remaining. The former Swindon Town man has been at the club since 2007 and will certainly be doing all he can to try and keep Hartlepool in the division, however unlikely that now appears.
