Sky Sports 1HD. Here we look at some of the other key moments in the West Yorkshire club's history.
1911: A header from captain Jimmy Speirs was enough for City to win the FA Cup for the first and only time in their history with a 1-0 replay win over Newcastle. After the first match on a rock hard pitch at Crystal Palace had ended goalless, the sides renewed their rivalry at Old Trafford on Wednesday 26th April. The Magpies pressed early on but City broke the deadlock via Speirs before holding off Newcastle attempts at an equaliser before the break. The Bantams then had most of the possession in the second period but could not extend their lead as Speirs' goal proved enough.
1960: City stunned Matt Busby's Manchester United with a 2-1 League Cup win at Valley Parade in the trophy's inaugural season. Dennis Viollet put United ahead but goals from Gerald Smith and Robert Webb gave the hosts a famous win in their first ever game in the competition. City then lost by the same scoreline at Shrewsbury in the next round.
1999: The Bantams went to Wolves on the last day of the season knowing a win would send them back to the top flight after a 77-year absence. After conceding an early opener, Paul Jewell's side raced to a 3-1 lead via efforts from Peter Beagrie, Lee Mills and Robbie Blake. Beagrie then missed a penalty and Wolves pulled a goal back to ensure a nervy finale for the Bantams' travelling support, made worse when Wolves struck the woodwork from a free-kick. However, Bradford clung on for a 3-2 win which proved enough for Jewell's side to reach the Premier League.
2000: Against all expectations, City survived to fight another season in the top flight after a 1-0 final-day win over Champions League-chasing Liverpool. City went into the clash level on points with fellow strugglers Wimbledon in the bid to avoid the last relegation berth. David Wetherall headed an early opener to steady the nerves at Valley Parade and, thanks to great defending, that is how the scoreline stayed, ensuring City's great escape after Wimbledon lost 2-0 at Southampton to seal their relegation.
2012: City pulled off one of the great cup shocks to defeat a strong Arsenal line-up and move into the League Cup semi-finals for the first time in their histroy. Garry Thompson volleyed the hosts ahead in the first period before Thomas Vermaelen headed home at the back post with only two minutes remaining to send the tie into extra-time. After heroic defending to keep the Gunners at bay, the home side went through 3-2 on penalties, with Vermaelen missing the crucial spot-kick to spark delirium amongst the home faithful.
