How long will it take Brendan Rodgers to get Liverpool on the right track?

Brendan Rodgers is in the spotlight at Liverpool after a slow start to his career as manager at Anfield. Sunday's 1-1 draw with Newcastle United reignited familiar debates about the Merseysiders' wastefulness in front of goal and their lack of attacking options.

Is the pressure mounting on Rodgers after a worse start than one of his predecessors, Roy Hodgson, or are there reasons to be positive in a young team who have been badly hit by injuries?

Here, Sky Sports offers two differing perspectives on the job Rodgers has done to date and the direction the club is heading in.

Give Rodgers time

Rodgers can get things right with Liverpool if he is offered football's most precious commodity, argues Peter Fraser. The issue in football is a familiar debate but with a young team, injuries and the January transfer window approaching, there are reasons for positivity at Anfield. Rodgers has his career ahead of him and should be given the chance to form his 'philosophy'.

Clock is already ticking

The Sunday papers carried the story that Rodgers believes the club's re-building job will take longer than the length of his three-year deal, with the manager seemingly already trying to buy time. Matt Stanger believes there's only so long the club's supporters, and maybe the board, will wait for results to improve.
