Clough says versatile youngsters fits the bill

Derby County have completed the signing of defender Kieron Freeman from Championship neighbours Nottingham Forest. Sky Sports revealed last week that the Rams were hoping to finalise a deal for Freeman and beat Notts County to the 20-year-old's signature. An undisclosed fee for the Wales Under 21 international has been agreed between the two clubs and Freeman has now signed a two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months. Freeman, who can operate at full-back or in midfield, came through the youth system at Forest and Derby boss Nigel Clough is confident his new signing can make an impact at Pride Park. "We're pleased to bring Kieron to Derby County and he fits the bill in terms of the type of player we are looking to bring into the squad," Clough told the club's official website. "He's young, he has potential and we've been impressed with what we've seen of him, whether it be at Forest or while he was out on loan at both Mansfield and Notts County. "He certainly increases our options in defence and midfield and we're confident he'll settle in just fine."
