Bolton on Saturday paid a fitting tribute to the stricken Fabrice Muamba as Owen Coyle's relegation-threatened team recorded an emotional and important victory over fellow strugglers Blackburn. David Wheater provided Muamba with yet another get well message by scoring a first-half brace to secure the three points. Less than a week after the trauma of midfielder Muamba's cardiac arrest during the FA Cup clash at Tottenham, Bolton claimed victory in the showdown to move out of the bottom three and pull Steve Kean's men back towards the drop zone.

Stoke City 1 Manchester City 1
Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League, but only on goal difference following an entertaining 1-1 draw with Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium. Peter Crouch's stunning goal, of which more later, gave Stoke the lead after 59 minutes, but Yaya Toure's long range deflected effort in the 76th minute proved to be enough for Roberto Mancini's side to muster an away point. The result means that City are now level on 70 points with title rivals Manchester United, but are only ahead on goal difference and Sir Alex Ferguson's team have a game in hand.

Peter Crouch
Peter Crouch's wonder strike on Saturday evening gave Stoke the lead in their eventual 1-1 draw with Manchester City and it was a likely winner of goal of the season. It came via route one as a long clearance from Asmir Begovic was headed on by Crouch, but there was nothing crude about the finish. The striker brilliantly flicked up a return header from Jermaine Pennant and twisted to volley into the top corner from 30 yards.

Gary Cahill
The whole of Stamford Bridge thought Emmanuel Adebayor was going to snatch a late win for Tottenham in their 0-0 draw at Chelsea. In the 80th minute, Spurs launched a quick counter-attack and Luka Modric sent Adebayor through on goal. The striker burst beyond Petr Cech and had the goal at his mercy, but he scuffed his shot and Cahill was able to slide and clear the ball from in front of his own goalline.
Shock of the weekend
Wigan win at Anfield
Liverpool's forgettable Premier League season on Saturday hit a new low as they suffered a fifth defeat in six matches in a terrible loss to Wigan. Roberto Martinez's men picked up an unexpected three points with the club's first win at Anfield. Gary Caldwell was the unlikely hero, slotting in the winner on 63 minutes after Luis Suarez had cancelled out Shaun Maloney's first-half penalty. Wigan's win puts them within one point of safety with eight games remaining.

Luis Suarez
The Uruguayan is already a target for boo-boys among Liverpool's rivals and he did little to enhance his reputation in the defeat to Wigan. Suarez tried to claim he had scored a legitimate goal to put Liverpool in front at 2-1 against the Latics. But replays showed the former Ajax player had committed a blatant handball and he was rightfully booked. Wigan manager Roberto Martinez said after the match: "We all know Suarez is an artist at getting free-kicks and good situations for himself."
