Mark Schwarzer: Hopes to feature at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil
Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer admits he has his sights firmly set on the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The 39-year-old veteran is closing in on 100 appearances for Australia having made his debut for the Socceroos back in 2003.
Schwarzer is hoping to maintain his fitness and hold down a first-team place with the Cottagers until 2014 comes around.
He said: "Brazil is my goal without a doubt. I like to set myself targets to work towards and so far the international scene is going very well we have qualified for the next stage with a game in hand and the manager of the national team is very supportive of me and he wants me to continue to play and I am. And I am enjoying it.
"There is no deadline (on retirement). I have a goal in international football to get to 2014 whether that is possible or not, we will have to wait and see. It is small steps at a time."
Schwarzer has enjoyed a prominent career in English football with spells at Bradford City, Middlesbrough and Fulham.
