Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand, who is on loan from Chelsea, sat down with The Fantasy Football Club to picks his #One2Eleven of the best players he’s played alongside

The left-back, who played for the Blues in the 2012 Champions League Final, opted to go with a 3-1-4-2 formation – and name a few subs! Here’s his line-up…

GOALKEEPER – Petr Cech: He really pulls out some crazy saves, even in training. He’s really, really hard to beat – you have to make sure that you put everything behind it and it has to be so accurate to beat him. He’s a very intelligent man. He can play a few instruments as well but I think his favourite is the drums. He’s quite an expert!

RIGHT BACK THREE – Branislav Ivanovic: He’s a warrior. If your team is going through a bad stage you can really rely on him to be there with you, fighting for you and the team. He’s a fantastic athlete – going forward and defensively. He’s been a good role model for me.

CENTRAL BACK THREE – John Terry: The rock of the defence. Right from the first days of being at Chelsea he was there for all of the young players. On the pitch he gives 100 per cent day in, day out. He’ll put his body on the line even for a little friendly five-a-side so he’s a real captain and a real leader.

LEFT BACK THREE – Ashley Cole: For a youngster coming up he set the bar for all of us. He went through a patch of getting a lot of stick from people but I think that when you actually know him as a person, you find out he’s a really, really nice guy. He’s very humble and happy to help anyone.

RIGHT MIDFIELD – Andre Schurrle: He showed everyone what he can do at the World Cup. He always seems to score whenever he plays. We got on really well and were close friends  in the short period we had together and we still speak now and still meet up when we can.

CENTRE MIDFIELD – Frank Lampard: With him you can really see why he is who he is. It seems a recurring thing with all of the players that I’m mentioning – the way they go about their work day in, day out relentlessly, it’s no surprise that they are getting their rewards. He’s got a phenomenal goal-scoring record for Chelsea. Away from the pitch he was a very nice person as well and very helpful to me growing up.

CENTRE MIDFIELD – Steven Gerrard: Whenever I teamed up with England he was a very good captain – reassuring to have around. It’s fantastic to see his abilities live rather than on TV bearing in mind he’s been up in Liverpool all his career.

LEFT MIDFIELD – Ryan Giggs: We had a spell together in the Olympics. Being around him you learn from him – the way he plays. It was a fantastic experience. He’s a legend of the game but he came in and had no ego. He was one of the boys.

IN THE HOLE – Eden Hazard: His ability is up there with the best of them in the world. Away from the pitch he is a bit of a joker – he’d always be in the changing room laughing. He’s a very relaxed and chilled out guy.

STRIKER – Dion Dublin: I was with him for a spell at Norwich when I was younger and what I learned from him was fantastic as a youngster coming up. Not only do you get the grillings if things aren’t going your way but he was also supportive on what you need to improve on. He helped me in my all-round game.

STRIKER – Didier Drogba: He’s been an unbelievable player for Chelsea over the years – for me more so away from the pitch. He’s a very good role model. There was one time in the FA Cup final when I’d played most of the games and then got injured in the semis and didn’t get back in the team. We won the final and the team was celebrating. Didier came up to me after the game and asked if I got a medal. When I said no, he gave me his one. It was an unbelievable thing to do.

Subs bench: Scott Sinclair, Jack Cork, Sam Hutchinson and last but not least I’d have to throw my brother in there. He was a good centre-back – could use both feet, was a good size. He just fancied it a bit more down the pub, that’s all!
