Sky Sports expert Jamie Carragher may be off your TV screens for now, but he's still finding ways to have his say on all of the big football stories.
The former England defender has been using his ever-entertaining Twitter account to deliver his verdict on the summer transfer business involving his old club Liverpool and the other top Premier League sides.
Read on for a snapshot of what he's been saying on his @Carra23 account - and don't forget he will be back on your screens, alongside Gary Neville, for the first Monday Night Football of the new season - Burnley v Chelsea, from 7pm on Monday August 18 on Sky Sports 1.
The return of Didier Drogba
Carra has played many times against the returning Blues hero...
Looks like Drogba is back, loved our battles best big game player I can remember.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 25, 2014
... but thinks Jose Mourinho has signed him as much for his personality as his goal threat.
Think he will be going back as much for his off the field influence as on it. He will never be able to beat that!— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 25, 2014
He can't wait to see if he will be involved in the first Monday Night Football of the season against Burnley
Although came out on top in our Champions League battles. Great player looking forward to watching him this season.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 25, 2014
And he thinks Drogba could be part of a title-winning jigsaw for Mourinho this term.
Chelsea my tip for the title.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) August 3, 2014
Frank Lampard moves to the MLS
Carra has backed his former England team-mate to continue his success after leaving Chelsea
Good luck to Frank Lampard in MLS. Played and roomed together for the u21's one of the best midfielders premier league has seen.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 24, 2014
But who was the greatest midfielder of his generation - Lampard, Gerrard or Scholes?
The 3 best English midfielders for 20 years. Stevie tops list I think Frank just edges Scholes for the defining goals he scored.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 24, 2014
Talking about there ability as individuals. Gerrards performance in Istanbul and Cardiff 12 months later put him top just in my eyes.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 24, 2014
Scholes best player I trained with at England. Played the role Gerrard now is for Lfc and ran the game for Man U great player. Opinions!!— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 24, 2014
Romelu Lukaku signs for Everton
Carra says the big Belgian has done the right thing by leaving Chelsea...
Lukaku deal good for both clubs and player. Would have liked to see him wear 9 in the great traditions of centre forwards of the past.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 31, 2014
... but he says Everton's star signing should get a better shirt number
I know Kone has the number 9 but an iconic number at Efc should be used for your main man up top. Take it off him!— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 31, 2014
Liverpool sell Luis Suarez to Barcelona
Jamie reckons his former club had little option, but to let Luis Suarez leave this summer
Luis was the best Lfc player I played with bar Gerrard. Gutted he's gone but was inevitable he would go to Spain one day.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 11, 2014
He believes Premier League sides will always struggle to hold on to players when Barcelona and Real Madrid come calling
Not just us Madrid took Ronaldo. When 2 giants of Spain come for your player you have a problem. Most players dream to play for one of them.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 11, 2014
He praised Brendan Rodgers for getting the maximum value for a player that is banned for the opening months of the season
It was the right time for everyone he wanted to go we got a good price considering incident at WC— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 11, 2014
He believes Raheem Sterling could help to fill the goalscoring void
Sterling relished playing alongside Luis but over next few years no reason why he can't be Lfc stand out attacker.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 11, 2014
And he says Everton will be glad to see the back of the Uruguayan
Favourite memory of Suarez is all his goals in the Derby!— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 11, 2014
Liverpool sign Dejan Lovren for £20million
Carra is a long-time admirer of Liverpool's new centre-half
Last season myself and @GNev2 both had Lovren in our team of 2013, he was as good as anyone until he got injured in the new year.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 27, 2014
He says the fee is high, but could be worth it in the long term.
If he performs yes, you can buy a play for 5 million performs poorly it's a waste. It's a lot for a defender hopefully he can deal with it.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 27, 2014
And he's concerend about what the St Mary's exodus could do to Southampton!
If Southampton don't start recruiting Sammy Lee will have to get his old Patrick on!— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 27, 2014
Steven Gerrard's international retirement
Carra says his old mate was right to call time on his career with England
Good decision by Steven Gerrard, 114 caps great servant for England.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 21, 2014
He says it's good news for Liverpool, but not so good for Roy Hodgson
Both as not many young alternatives in that holding role for England. Lfc get a fresher Gerrard.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 21, 2014
He explains that the England manager will find it hard to identify the next skipper
Big decision no stand out candidate.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 21, 2014
Although Wayne Rooney has a strong claim for the armband
Yes him and Joe Hart the two leading candidates.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 21, 2014
Everton's Ross Barkley could be the man to take his midfield berth
In his attacking role yes but not as the holding player at the moment.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 21, 2014
And he recalls the famous FA Cup Final of 2006, when Gerrard was arguably at the peak of his powers...
Best Gerrard moment for me, West Ham equaliser in the cup final. Got me out of jail!— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) July 21, 2014
