Darius Henderson: Netted a hat-trick to fire Millwall past Barnsley
Team of the week
Frank Fielding - Derby
The Rams keeper pulled off a string of fine saves in windy conditions to help frustrate Burnley in a goalless draw at Turf Moor, most notably his excellent block of a shot from Clarets striker Charlie Austin in the second half. The stalemate stretched Derby's recent run to just one defeat in their last eight Championship encounters, while the clean sheet was Fielding's fourth on the bounce.
Terrell Forbes - Leyton Orient
Forbes paired up with goalkeeper Lee Butcher to keep things tight at the back as Orient denied Graham Westley a winning start as Preston North End manager. The 30-year-old was a star performer in Orient's 2-0 road victory despite playing in an unfamiliar right-back position, having moved over to accommodate the selection of Dean Leacock as Scott Cuthbert's centre-half partner.
Dave Winfield - Wycombe
Beleaguered Wycombe claimed a much-needed 3-0 win at home to fellow strugglers Rochdale and Winfield played a key role in the rout. The stopper helped Wanderers keep a crucial clean sheet and was also on target with their third goal, bundling home a corner to wrap up the victory and hand the hosts a vital three points.
Curtis Davies - Birmingham
Davies once again showed his attacking prowess as he netted an important double in the Blues' 3-0 home triumph over Watford. The defender headed home either side of half-time to take his goal tally to four goals in five Championship games, while also putting in a hard-working shift at the back to help secure a clean sheet.
Doug Loft - Port Vale
Usually a midfielder, Loft produced an outstanding display in an unfamiliar left-back role as Vale overcame Rotherham 1-0. The 25-year-old made eye-catching contributions at both ends, winning the penalty that sealed Vale's win after drawing a reckless challenge from Dale Tonge before capping his fine performance with a crucial goal-line clearance to preserve a clean sheet for the visitors.
Will Buckley - Brighton
The Seagulls' resurgence continued as they bagged their third successive win at Peterborough and it was Buckley that inspired the triumph. The winger grabbed his fifth and sixth goals of the season at London Road, opening the scoring with a stunning 35-yard free-kick before producing a clinical finish from the edge of the box in the 88th minute to seal the success.
Mark Noble - West Ham
The Hammers' display against Nottingham Forest was not their most inspiring but Noble was one bright point in the Londoners' 2-1 win. The midfielder kept his cool to slot home two penalties, awarded for handballs against Guy Moussi and Chris Gunter respectively, to fire West Ham to victory and send them top of the Championship for the first time this season.
Johnnie Jackson - Charlton
The Addicks kept fellow promotion chasers Sheffield United at bay with a 1-0 win at The Valley and influential captain Jackson provided the firepower. The midfielder blasted home a 25-yard strike, his ninth league goal this season, to earn title hopefuls Charlton their third straight Championship victory.
Darius Henderson - Millwall
Fit-again striker Henderson secured his second hat-trick in five days as the Lions barged past Barnsley 3-1 at Oakwell. Having netted a treble in the midweek FA Cup triumph over Dagenham & Redbridge, Henderson repeated his heroics against the Tykes, converting a 36th-minute spot-kick before firing home two more to take his goal tally this season to 15.
Jack Midson - AFC Wimbledon
Midson inspired a dramatic Wimbledon comeback at Gillingham after the visitors had fallen 3-1 behind. The frontman won and converted a penalty for the crucial equaliser on 80 minutes before seeing his shot deflected into the back of the net at the death to seal a 4-3 triumph.
Gavin Tomlin - Gillingham
The final man in our line-up also starred in Wimbledon's victory over Gillingham - but for the losing side. The hitman, making his first start for the Gills on loan from Dagenham & Redbridge, opened the scoring in just the fourth minute to get the Kent side off to a storming start before netting another in the second half, as well as providing the assist for Jo Kuffour's strike.
