Kaka has spoken of his delight at learning of his return to the national team squad after a prolonged absence from the international game.

The Real Madrid playmaker has not featured for Brazil since the 2010 World Cup, but coach Mano Menezes has recalled Kaka to his squad for matches against Iraq on October 11th in Sweden and against Japan on October 16th in Poland.

Kaka joined Real Madrid in 2009 but has since suffered long-standing knee injuries, which eventually required surgery. However, the 30-year-old played 40 times for Los Blancos in all competitions last season, earning him the opportunity to re-establish himself on the international scene ahead of the 2014 World Cup in his homeland.

"I have always wanted to return, but I knew I had to wait," he told CBF TV, Brazil's FA channel.

"Iu2019m very happy for returning, I want to re-establish myself and win my place back little by little"

"I got far from the national team, but the injuries stopped happening and my physical condition kept improving.

"I'm very happy for returning, I want to re-establish myself and win my place back little by little.

"I still have a lot to achieve."

The midfielder has also stated that he was pleasantly surprised at the news: "I only found out I was called up when they announced the squad.

"It's like it's my first call-up ever.

"I paid attention to all previous call-ups knowing it was unlikely for me to get called up."

Kaka has made 82 appearances for Brazil, scoring 27 times.
