Brazil coach Carlos Alberto Parreira has not included Fenerbahce midfielder Alex for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Brazil are scheduled to play Ecuador in the South American qualifying stage of the World Cup in Quito on November 17.

"I preferred to call up Julio Baptista instead of Alex because he is physically more strong and would cope better playing at the altitude of 2,800 meters in Quito," said Parreira.

"I had three options for the same position, Julio Baptista, Diego (Ribas da Cunha) or Alex.

"But I decided for Julio because the match will be played in Quito.
