Zanetti earns Argentina recall

Argentina have recalled Javier Zanetti for next month's friendly international with France.

Argentina have called up veteran Javier Zanetti and the uncapped Fernando Gago for next month's friendly international with France.

Zanetti has been recalled after being omitted from his team's World Cup squad - the Internazionale right-back's last appearance was in a 3-2 friendly defeat by England in November 2005.

Alfio Basile has called up Real Madrid's new midfield signing from Boca Juniors Gago and Real Mallorca midfielder Jonas Gutierrez has also been given the chance to win his first cap.

Lionel Messi, Carlos Tevez, Juan Pablo Sorin and Pablo Zabaleta are all unavailable through injury as Basile attempts to win his first match in charge of Argentina at the third attempt.
