MARCELO BIELSA'S Argentinian squad is currently training in Italy and although the official announcement is not due till May 15, Planetfootball.com can offer a sneak preview of the 23.

Barcelona's Javier Saviola (pictured) has been left out, despite an impressive debut season in La Liga, something that River Plate club president Jose Maria Aguilar cannot believe.

Saviola joined Barca from River and Aguilar was incredulous that Claudio Caniggia had been given a chance in front of the young starlet.

"It's madness to have (Claudio) Caniggia in the World Cup and not Saviola," said Aguilar.

"Not bringing Saviola to the World Cup shows a failure to consider the future of Argentine soccer."

Planetfootball.com understands that the eventual Argentine squad will read as follows:

Goalkeepers: German Burgos (Atletico Madrid), Roberto Bonano (Barcelona), Pablo Cavallero (Celta Vigo).

Defence: Mauricio Pochettino (PSG), Roberto Ayala (Valencia), Javier Zanetti (Internazionale), Jose Chamot (Milan), Juan Pablo Sorin (Cruzeiro), Walter Samuel (Roma), Diego Placente (Bayer Leverkusen).

Midfield: Diego Simeone (Lazio), Kily Gonzalez (Valencia), Matias Almeyda (Parma), Pablo Aimar (Valencia), Marcelo Gallardo (Monaco), Juan Sebastian Veron (Manchester United), Claudio Husain (River Plate).

Forward: Claudio Lopez (Lazio), Gustavo Lopez (Celta Vigo), Ariel Ortega (River Plate), Claudio Caniggia (Rangers), Hernan Crespo (Lazio), Gabriel Batistuta (Roma).
