France take top spot

The Cypriots were expected to be sacrificial lambs in Paris and things went according to script as a 4-0 win handed Les Bleus a comfortable three points.
The win combined with the 0-0 draw between Republic of Ireland and Switzerland resulted in France taking top spot, with Israel missing out despite starting the night in top spot.
Zinedine Zidane set the tone with an audacious attempt from 35 yards which had to be tipped over and after a couple of glaring misses, most notably from Djibril Cisse, France took the lead through Real star Zidane.
The playmaker, who came out of international retirement recently, eased the nerves at the Stade de France with a close-range finish.
Wiltord made it two with a chipped finish on 32 minutes and the gifted Vikash Dhorasoo added a third when clipping home with the outside of his boot.
The second half was little more than a training exercise for the French, but there was still room for Ludovic Guily to net from close range as Raymond Domenech's men ultimately came good in Group Four.
