Anelka had hoped that his public apology would put him back in contention - bearing in mind that Djibril Cisse is not being considered until his five-match ban ends.
Although David Trezeguet and Thierry Henry are the first choice pairing, Santini has yet to settle on his supporting cast ahead of the summer's European Championship in Portugal.
The former Arsenal man is competing with the likes of Steve Marlet and Pegguy Luyindala who are both included in this squad - and it looks increasingly unlikely that he will be considered for Euro 2004.
Anelka has received support from former Gunners team-mate Patrick Vieira, but it appears that coach Santini is not yet willing to forgive and forget the striker's comments that he would have to beg him to rejoin his squad.
