New Hoffenheim signing Joselu has revealed his intention to play for Germany and not Spain at senior level.
The 22-year-old joined the Bundesliga club from Real Madrid this week on a contract that runs until June 2016.
Joselu was born in Germany and moved to Spain when he was a youngster, and has representated the Iberian nation at Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 levels.
However, the striker wants to play for the country of his birth at senior level, telling Hoffenheim's official website: "My ambition is to become a German citizen.
"I am mainly here to leave my mark for Hoffenheim, but I intend to play for Germany at senior level in the end.
"I know Germany well from the stories told by my parents and siblings, who have already worked in Germany in the past.
"Hoffenheim are a good club in the Bundesliga, which is one of the strongest leagues in the world.
"Perhaps we can win a berth in the Europa League next season. I want to help the club achieve that."
