Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has admitted he was delighted to see Fernando Torres get on the scoresheet again for the national team.
The Liverpool striker netted twice for the world and European champions in their 4-0 victory over Liechtenstein in Vaduz in their first Euro 2012 qualifier.
The 26-year-old scored his first goal since April on Sunday for Liverpool against West Brom, but produced two finishes of the highest quality to demonstrate he could be at his devastating best soon.
Since a dazzling first season at Anfield and scoring the winner against Germany in their Euro 2008 final triumph, Torres has stuttered with his fitness and injury and has not been able to show his best form on a consistent basis.
He was also omitted in the latter stages of Spain's World Cup-winning campaign due to a lack of form and failed to score throughout, but Del Bosque was convinced he was very much on the road to full recovery.
"Of course. He didn't score during the World Cup and these goals plus the one he got the other day for Liverpool are going to improve his morale and self-confidence," said Del Bosque.
"That's very good for him and the national team. Today (against Liechtenstein) he moved well close to the area."

Torres was withdrawn in the 54th minute after his double salvo, with Liverpool reportedly unhappy that he was picked and was still believed to be around a month away from full fitness.
However, Del Bosque denied that the pressure from the Premier League club had anything to do with his decision and says it was based on giving his substitutes game time.
"I don't think it was too draining a game for the players. Torres could have continued perfectly. We had people on the bench who ought to play, we had to give them the opportunity," Del Bosque added.
