Liverpool winger Albert Riera has been drafted into the Spain squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Estonia and Belgium.
Riera has been recalled to the squad to replace the injured Diego Capel for the European champions.
Capel has been struggling with a leg injury and the Sevilla man aggravated the problem in training on Tuesday.
"It's an injury that has dragged on for some time now," said Capel. "In recent weeks I have felt okay, but I could not finish the training session."
Riera has enjoyed a fine start to his Liverpool career since his move from Espanyol on transfer deadline day and he produced arguably his best performance in last weekend's dramatic win over former Manchester City.
Spain also have injury doubts over Andres Iniesta [knee], Carles Puyol [foot] and Santi Cazorla [foot], but all three are expected to be fit for both games.
