Valencia winger Joaquin has moved to play down the controversial comments he made about Spain boss Luis Aragones.
The wideman has found himself overlooked by the national team boss for the forthcoming Euro 2008 qualifier against Sweden and hit out by claiming that Aragones' side were 'in chaos'.
The veteran coach dismissed the claims and Joaquin himself has now attempted to assuage any ill-feeling by claiming his comments were over-played by the press.
"Maybe I didn't express myself very well, I wanted to say that these are difficult times for the national side," the 25-year-old declared. "I didn't want to go as far as what they have said in the papers.
"I wanted to say that things are not so clear for the national side after the defeat against Northern Ireland but it wasn't my aim to attack the national team nor Luis Aragones."
