Serbia & Montenegro moved clear at the top of Group Seven with a 5-0 thumping of San Marino, as nearest rivals Lithuania and Spain played out a goalless draw.

The group is shaping up to be a tense affair and the Serbians will be delighted to have opened up some daylight.

The home side were made to work for their opener, as it took 35 minutes for Savo Milosevic to make the breakthrough.

A brace of goals either side of half time by Dejan Stankovic eased the nerves and Ognjen Koroman put the game beyond the visitors with a strike on 52 minutes.

Zvominir Vukic put some gloss on the scoreline with a fifth 20 minutes from time.

The Serbians now have a two-point gap at the top of the table after Lithuania and Spain cancelled each other out in a 0-0 draw.
