Spain boss Luis Aragones has called up Deportivo La Coruna duo Albert Luque and Joan Capdevila for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against Belgium and Lithuania.

The pair have been summoned after Vicente and Enrique Romero both failed fitness tests.

Valencia star Vicente admitted he had a chance of making the second game with Lithuania, but felt it best not to risk aggravating the injury.

"Perhaps I could have made the second, but not at 100 percent so the best thing was to leave," he stated.

Luque was the hero for Deportivo in Sunday's win over Real Madrid, scoring the only goal at El Santiago Bernabeu.

The left-sided attacker worked with Aragones when the two were at Mallorca and admits he is hoping to repay the coach's show of faith in him.

"I am very happy to return to the national team," he stated.

"The manager already knows me very well because we worked together for a year and I hope to repay the confidence he has shown in me with hard work and goals."
